Hair-Follicle Derived Stem Cell Therapy for Non-surgical Hair Loss Treatment

Hair loss, or alopecia, is a concern for all person, especially men. Treatments for hair loss include medications such as Propecia and Rogaine, hair replacements, and hair restoration. However, current treatment methods are painful, long process, and aesthetically troublesome. As a new treatment method, stem cell therapy removes all of this.

Stem cells are unspecialized cells that maintain and repair tissues. Stem cells are unique in that they have the potential to develop into many different types of cells. In tissue and hair regeneration, stem cells induce changes, behavior, or differentiation of adjacent cells by Paracrine signaling. Stem are injected into the scalp and are believed to exert a paracrine effect by inducing hair cells to become more active.

Hair-Follicle Derived Stem Cell

Stem cell therapy is the process of isolating mesenchymal stem cells from their own healthy hair follicle and reintroducing them into the hair skin where they can do the most good. Once isolated, the stem cells are then re-introduced to the hair skin for more localized treatments. Hair follicles taken with a small operation by doctor and produce mesenchymal stem cells within a maximum of 1 month and are made ready for application. Each application is planned by the doctor according to the hair loss level of the person. Generally, 3 doses are done every 15 days. However, no treatment can be guaranteed. Results vary from patient to patient.

Stem Cell therapy is autologous and safe. It has many demonstrated treatment protocols for numerous medical disorders. Stem cell therapy is new to hair restoration surgery and very little published material is available. This procedure is typically used for those patients who are not surgical candidates because they are too young, or are in the early phase of hair loss. Women who suffer from hair loss are also good candidates when hair surgery is not desired or if not enough donor hair exists for hair transplantation.
